Hello! As I delve deeper and deeper into the actual work of being a styling assistant, my own outfits get simpler and simpler, especially in conjunction with warm weather. I’m not a minimalist, but I actually do love dressing simply, functionally, but still with sneaky elements of perversity or funk that hopefully give my looks the occasional spark of je ne sais quoi. Or maybe I just look lazy and my depression is showing. I also only brought 1.5 bags of clothes with me back to NYC, whittled down over two long-haul flights, and I have no idea where my future is gonna lead, so I’m keeping things light and mobile. Either way, below, enjoy a slew of outfits I’ve actually worn outside over the past month!
If you like these posts, please let me know by liking and commenting here or on Esque’s Instagram, subbing to the Esque Substack (this) for free, getting bonus posts for seven bucks a month, or for ZERO DOLLARS, share (tag me if on IG so I can see and thank you)!
If you cannot afford the $5/month, I totally understand—respond to any of my email sends and I will get you a $2 subscription or comp you, whatever you need. Esque is for everyone!
Thank you SO MUCH for your support, whatever you are able and willing to do to help is extremely valuable to me and I’m honored to be a small part of your life on the web.
Starting off very simple with a drowned rat, post-rain look.
“Gekko” brand tank top from my local 99c store - Three for $5
Still some of my favorite jeans, “Dad Eco Azul” from Limay in Argentina - $ 82.000 ARS
Flip flops from a feria in BsAs - probably $2
Casio Calculator Watch - $21.92 (Sale)
I wore this to do Amy Winehouse karaoke and it showed up really well in photos and videos. IMO what makes a bubble hem work is not tucking in the top to avoid giving Limited Too, just let the top (I like a more masculine option) scrunch around the preferably low waistband.
OOAK “Leche” necklace (below) by Tienda Lloron - maybe $10?
Soft Ribbed Tank Top by Uniqlo - $9.90 (Sale)
Bubble skirt from Ferrens, now sold out but similar (cooler?) here - $90.000 ARS
Hue socks - $18 for six-pack
Salomon XT-Slates my friend Ana gave me, so free for me! - $173 (Sale)
I wore this to the pride kickoff at MoMA PS1 which my friend Sarah generously got me into gratis—Girl Dick and Kembra Pfahler were so, so good but the crowd was overwhelmingly millennial, lol.
I found the suit, a vintage Italian little boys’ number seemingly tailored by the universe to fit me, for $25 within five minutes of walking into an L Train Vintage here in Bushwick. I still got the magic suit attraction factor!
Bjork mesh dress as top by Arxe, no longer sold I believe
Nike Cortez Sneakers (fuck the Bode collab lol) - $90
Justine Clenquet necklace, no longer sold, similar here - $56 (Sale)
Ahh, the ill-fated jumpsuit I wore to one shitty party and then immediately stained in every conceivable fashion. I still love it, though, and will one day get it dry-cleaned to restore it to its former glory.
Vintage Marithé + François Girbaud (back when it was good) jumpsuit, similar here - Є50
Finally achieved my dream of owning a Zn Ali set, and now I simply want more. I cannot emphasize how quickly-made + delivered and high quality this set is, and how they offer CUSTOM SIZING AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. You get on a Zoom with the team and give them all your measurements. It’s a magical experience. Also, I got these Bass Weejuns on Depop after not having any luck with loafers for the better part of five years, and they’re so perfect a sole has now detached from wear, which I desperately need to get fixed.
Zn Ali Valentin Set (button-down not pictured) - $354
Vintage loafers from Depop, similar here - $52
Sapir Bachar Double Spheres Choker (gifted) - $404
I have been feeling very Wednesday Addams bummer summer, unfortunately.
Vintage top from Swellegant
MNZ Bisou Miniskirt, in white here - $109 (Sale)
I wore this to a party I hosted!
Top (with a low, low back I love, not pictured) from Crop - $13.134 ARS (Sale)
My everyday bag, Cartera Baby Moon from Pineapple - $110.000 ARS
Sunglasses I er got a five finger discount on not telling where B)
Wore this to a shoot I style assisted and the football kit did a great job of not making me feel drenched by day’s end.
Jersey by Unitivo (seemingly out of production)
A rare sighting of the spectacles I need to actually do my job!
Armando Glasses by Warby Parker - $145
Boxy Tank by Crop (I’ve never found another tank with this perfect shape) - $16.170 ARS (Sale)
Lace skirt by Arxe, no longer sold I believe (again :()
Socks by Argentine brand Mezcla, which seems to have gone out of business?
I fell in love with this weird shirt-cardigan thing at a vintage store’s $10 bin in Greenpoint, and I like to wear it both forward and reversed.
Sterling silver necklace via Yey House and I forget the brand, SORRY, pictured below (it’s one of my favorite pieces of jewelry of all time)
Vintage shirtigan found at Kosuge Bachman - $10
Shorts I cut out of jeans given to me by my BsAs roommate (sorry Vicki :’))
Socks - Eight pairs for $14.99
If you don’t already follow them, make sure to check out my friend Izzy’s work @isaboko_—they’re a genius and their star is quickly rising, get in on the ground level by copping one of their bolo ties (pictured below)!
Lace skirt by Crop, similar here - $49.900 ARS
Bolo tie gifted by Isaboko <3
Sweater was another clutch Depop find, I can’t explain how much I love this shade of blue.
Finally, this beloved top is from Sometime NYC, and it’s virtually wrinkle-proof, which is great seeing as I am constitutionally incapable of being responsible with my clothes.
Hasta pronto!
<3 ESK
I like these looks (most of them anyway)
